The government warns against trusting gangs selling “legal entity heads” who use names to register legal entities and front accounts. It reveals continuous crackdowns have reduced the number of front accounts from 549 cases in 2025 to just 19 in the first half of 2026.
On 13 June 2026, Ms. Lalida Pertvivattana, Deputy Spokesperson of the Office of the Prime Minister, revealed that the government is actively combating technology crimes and the misuse of legal entities as tools for wrongdoing. Measures by the Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce, to prevent nominees and front accounts since 1 January 2026 have significantly reduced the number of legal entity front accounts from 549 cases in 2025 to only 19 cases between January and May 2026. This reflects successful disruption of criminal networks at their origin.
The Deputy Spokesperson explained that monitoring revealed groups covertly buying and selling “heads of partnerships and companies” or persuading others to let their names be used to register legal entities, which are then used as front accounts linked to online scams, money laundering, and technology crimes. These activities cause harm to the public and the economy.
Therefore, the government has integrated cooperation between the Department of Business Development and the Royal Thai Police to enhance scrutiny, screening, and strict prosecution of those involved. This has clearly reduced the use of legal entities as front accounts.
“The government warns the public and business operators not to fall for offers to sell their names or allow their names to be used for registering partnerships or companies, nor to accept positions as directors, shareholders, or partners without conducting real business, as this may lead to criminal and civil liability. They risk being unknowingly used as tools by criminal syndicates. The government reaffirms its commitment to intensively prevent and suppress economic and online crimes while building public resilience to avoid becoming victims or being exploited, in order to collectively create a more transparent and safer economic and business environment.”
