Department of Land Transport Offers Public Vehicle Drivers License Services Outside Official Hours on Saturdays Starting 13 June

The government, through the Department of Land Transport, has started providing public vehicle driver's license services outside official hours "only on Saturdays" from 13 June to 1 August 2026 at Bangkok Area Transport Offices 1 to 5 to support public vehicle drivers.


On 13 June 2026, Ms. Ploytale Laksamee Sangchan, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the government, via the Department of Land Transport, is facilitating the public by offering public vehicle driver's license services outside official hours "only on Saturdays." This applies to new licenses and renewals from Saturday, 13 June to Saturday, 1 August 2026, between 08:30 and 15:30 at Bangkok Area Transport Offices 1 to 5. Applicants must have completed e-Learning training (the course for obtaining or renewing a public vehicle driver's license) beforehand. Applications can be submitted at these offices.

The required documents to be submitted are as follows:

1. National ID card

2. Medical certificate

3. Personal driver's license with at least 2 months of validity remaining or a lifetime driver's license (for new applications)

4. e-Learning course completion certificate for obtaining or renewing a public vehicle driver's license (https://www.dlt-elearning.com/)5. Existing public vehicle driver's license (for renewals)

Ms. Ploytale stated that those who pass the physical fitness and written tests and have no criminal record will be issued a public vehicle driver's license by the Department of Land Transport. The license issuance fees are as follows: 305 baht for public cars and 155 baht for public motorcycles. For public car drivers (taxis), applicants should prepare three 3-inch photos wearing a plain collared shirt for the driver's ID card (yellow card), with a fee of 25 baht.

"The public vehicle driver's license is an important document for those who wish to work as public vehicle drivers, including all types of hired drivers and those driving for application-based services. They must hold a valid public vehicle driver's license according to the law. Failure to comply with the Department of Land Transport's announcement will result in legal penalties and prevent unregistered drivers from operating vehicles for those applications."
