Thanakorn visited Walailak University Medical Center Hospital, confident it will become a healthcare hub for southern Thailand, while villagers expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Anutin for promoting the Thai Chua Thai Plus project.
On 13 June 2026, reporters reported that Mr. Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, Member of Parliament from the Bhumjaithai Party and former Minister of Industry, traveled to visit the operations of Walailak University Medical Center Hospital on 12 June 2026.
This visit was an informal tour during which Thanakorn met and exchanged views with medical staff, encouraging those closely caring for public health. The hospital management also guided him through various operations, showcasing the hospital's medical technology capabilities and readiness to serve, as it advances toward becoming a key medical center for southern Thailand.
Thanakorn said that Walailak University Medical Center Hospital has made commendable progress in many areas, including personnel, service systems, and medical technology. Although there are still some limitations, especially in specialist staff and essential medical equipment that require further development, he is confident that with continuous support, within the next 10 years the hospital will be able to fully enhance its capacity to care for people in Nakhon Si Thammarat and nearby provinces, playing a vital role comparable to leading medical institutions in the south.
“I see the dedication of the management team, doctors, nurses, and all staff working together to develop this hospital as a refuge for the people. I believe that with its existing potential and ongoing development, Walailak University Medical Center Hospital will become a significant force in Thailand’s public health system in the future,” Thanakorn said.
Additionally, Thanakorn revealed that he met with merchants and citizens in Nakhon Si Thammarat, many of whom reflected that the government’s Thai Chua Thai Plus project has effectively stimulated spending and improved liquidity in the community-level economy.
“Many merchants and citizens expressed their thanks to Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul for driving the Thai Chua Thai Plus project, which helps stimulate the economy at a time when purchasing power has not fully recovered, increasing money circulation locally and easing living costs for the people to some extent,” Thanakorn said.
