Asapol points out that to effectively combat corruption, there must be a system allowing public participation, with strong connections between the parliament, civil society, and the people.
On 14 Jun 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Asapol Sontrai-phop, Member of Parliament for Sisaket Province Constituency 8 from the Bhumjaithai Party and Chair of the House Committee on Anti-Corruption, posted on his personal Facebook that after the committee visited and exchanged cooperation approaches with the Anti-Corruption Organization (Thailand), it became clear that effective anti-corruption requires three parts working together: 1. The parliament, which oversees, promotes legislation, and monitors government agencies; 2. Civil society, which helps monitor, report leads, and reflect real issues; 3. The public, who are the most important force in rejecting corruption.
Mr. Asapol stated that the committee has coordinated cooperation to advance two key issues: first, to push for complaints with sufficient data and evidence to be considered quickly, systematically, and directly forwarded to responsible agencies; second, to support educating the public on how to report leads, such as via the ACT Ai platform, allowing citizens to safely and effectively participate in monitoring corruption.
“I believe Thailand can truly reduce corruption when the oversight system is strong and the public participates. The committee will continue working with all sectors to push anti-corruption efforts into concrete results, not just paperwork, but outcomes that people can experience in daily life,” said Mr. Asapol.
Next week, the Anti-Corruption Committee will hold a two-day meeting: on 17 Jun 2026 GMT+7, it will review studies by seven subcommittees covering key issues such as local official oversight, state land use, budget disbursement, land title issuance, and ways to prevent improper solicitation of benefits. On 18 Jun 2026 GMT+7, it will consider the inspection of relevant agencies related to the Railway Savings Cooperative and the case of a gambling den opening in Sattahip District, Chonburi Province.
