
The government organized an ordination ceremony under the royal patronage of the Supreme Patriarch to dedicate merit to Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha. The Supreme Patriarch commanded Somdet Phra Maha Weerawong to perform his duties as his representative.
14 June 2026 GMT+7 The government held an ordination ceremony as part of the project for ordination under the Supreme Patriarch’s patronage, dedicated to Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendirathep Dadee, Krom Luang Rajsarin Siripatchara, the Princess Royal. Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatayana, the Supreme Patriarch, commanded Somdet Phra Maha Weerawong, Secretary to the Supreme Patriarch, to act on his behalf as the ecclesiastical chairman. Mrs. Yupa Taweewattanakitboron, Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, served as the lay chairman, accompanied by Ms. Rachineepon Thititsap, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, ministry representatives, government executives, and participants of the ordination project. The ceremony took place at Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Maha Simaram, Bangkok.
At 9:00 a.m. in the ordination hall of Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Maha Simaram, Somdet Phra Maha Weerawong, the ecclesiastical chairman, lit incense and candles to pay homage to the Triple Gem. Following this, the Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, as the lay chairman, lit incense, candles, and a small gold offering before the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, and in front of the portrait of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendirathep Dadee, offering respects to the ecclesiastical chairman.
Next, representatives of the novices in the ordination project paid respects to the ecclesiastical chairman and the Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, the ceremony’s lay chairman. They then reported to the ceremony before Somdet Phra Maha Weerawong, acting on behalf of the Supreme Patriarch, conducted the novice ordination ceremony for the project participants, gave guidance to the novices, and took group photographs in front of the ordination hall.
After the ordination ceremony, executives from the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Transport offered alms meals to the monks. Then, at 12:30 p.m., government executives offered alms bowls to the novices at the front of the ordination hall before the novices departed to undergo full ordination ceremonies at four designated temples: Wat Ratchapradit Sathit Maha Simaram, Wat Bowonniwet Vihara, Wat Thepsirintrawat, and Wat Buranasirimatthayaram.
This ordination project under the Supreme Patriarch’s patronage was organized to dedicate merit and pay tribute to the kindness of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendirathep Dadee, Krom Luang Rajsarin Siripatchara, the Princess Royal. A total of 100 participants joined the project, studying Buddhist scriptures and practicing meditation according to Buddhist principles throughout the program, to uphold Buddhism and apply its teachings in life and official duties for the benefit of society and the nation.
