Sihasak revealed that Anutin is preparing to fly to Russia to discuss the ASEAN framework, closely monitoring the timing for a meeting with Putin to strengthen economic cooperation.
On 15 June 2026, Sihasak Puangketkaew, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, disclosed details of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's mission to attend the ASEAN-Russia cooperation framework meeting on 17-18 June. He said this trip involves discussions under the ASEAN-Russia cooperation framework, with key agenda items including current global and regional situations and economic cooperation in new dimensions and sectors between ASEAN and Russia.
When asked about special trade negotiations, such as fertilizer purchases from Russia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs stated there would be no new agreement negotiations in this area, as pricing details had already been discussed previously. However, whether additional discussions on other topics will occur depends on the timing and opportunity to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin during the meeting.
