Anucha, the Democrat Party candidate for Bangkok governor, together with party leader Abhisit, led a team to seek votes in Huai Khwang district, pointing out that the problem of foreigners taking jobs from Thais must be urgently resolved and pledging immediate action. Locals offered support and shared their concerns.
At 12:00 noon on 15 June 2026 GMT+7 Anucha Burapachaisri, the Democrat Party candidate for Bangkok governor, led a large Democrat Party team to Muang Thai-Phatra Market in Huai Khwang district, Bangkok, to meet and campaign with merchants and office workers in the Ratchadaphisek area. They were joined by party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva, Kanjadee Liewpairote, Deputy Party Leader Sakolthee Phattiyakul, party advisor Ong-art Klamkaipiboon, and Democrat candidate for the Huai Khwang Bangkok Metropolitan Council, Praphut Hankitchakoon. Citizens showed support and discussed cost-of-living and grassroots economic issues with the party team.
Anucha stressed the necessity of integrating Bangkok's transportation networks—road, rail, and boat—to increase convenience and efficiency. He questioned, “Should we be satisfied with Bangkok as it is now?” He said that solving problems in isolation without considering the future is insufficient. Instead, hope and new opportunities should be created for Bangkok residents through the Democrat Party's five main policies to transform Bangkok for the better.
When asked about the growing problems of foreign nominee capital and foreigners competing with Thai workers, Anucha said it is a concerning and long-standing issue that has not been seriously addressed. He pointed out that foreigners clearly occupy market stalls and trade among themselves. Despite complaints, after four years the problems remain unchanged. This shows that it's time to stop debating what the problem is and instead move forward to resolve it thoroughly and sustainably—not just addressing issues piecemeal.
Regarding preparedness for security situations in Bangkok, Anucha said that if given the opportunity, he would develop tight emergency response plans focusing on integrating information swiftly and appropriately to ensure Bangkok can maintain public safety calmly and orderly. He confirmed that the five policies—convenient transportation, a clean city, strong economy, quality of life, and anti-corruption—can be advanced simultaneously. He plans to manage the budget to prioritize maximum benefits for Bangkok citizens.
“Myself and the Democrat Party candidates for the 50 Bangkok Metropolitan Council districts are genuinely committed to working hard. Although we have held no positions recently, we have continuously served the people. Today, we ask Bangkok residents to open their hearts and support the Democrat Party so we can perform honest politics and transform Bangkok into a city of hope for everyone.”
