The first concerned guidelines and measures to prevent and solve problems related to unmanned aerial vehicles. A Prime Minister's Office regulation will be urgently drafted to support this. This aims to organize integrated management involving multiple agencies, including the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, Air Navigation Service, and relevant security agencies that will jointly manage drone-related matters. This also includes planning to protect energy infrastructure from drone-related threats.
Furthermore, the meeting also passed a resolution regarding the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) 1982. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will submit this to the Cabinet for approval before providing further explanation of the principles and details.
When asked if the meeting discussed the Thai representative for the compulsory arbitration process, Chatichai said approval must await the Cabinet meeting. Although a name has been selected, it is not yet disclosed pending Cabinet approval. The NSC has reviewed all principles and steps to prepare accordingly.
When asked if the proposal would be brought to the Cabinet meeting on 16 June, Chatichai confirmed, “Yes, we aim to propose it at the Cabinet meeting on 16 June.” Regarding whether the NSC assessed the Thailand-Cambodia border situation, including China's delivery of tanks to Cambodia which could affect security, the NSC secretary-general said this was not discussed. The meeting focused mainly on drones and UNCLOS.
