James Anucha toured Amornphan Market with Abhisit, highlighting a giant water tunnel network to solve Lat Phrao flooding and boasting that the Democrat Party has never abandoned Bangkok's problems even without holding official positions yet remains committed.
At 08:00 on 16 June 2026, James Anucha Burapachaisri, Democrat Party candidate number 5 for Bangkok governor, accompanied by Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva and party executives, including Sakolthee Phatthiyakul, Radkelao Intawong Suwankiri (deputy party leader), Ong-art Klampaiboon (party leader advisor), and Attharan Manupirapant, Democrat candidate number 3 for Lat Phrao councilor, visited Amornphan Market 9 to meet locals. They were warmly received by shoppers and vendors who greeted them, asked for photos, and shared local issues. Along the walk, Anucha and Abhisit greeted various shops; when they saw zongzi priced at 35 baht each, Anucha joked that the price matched both their numbers—Attharan number 3 and himself number 5 for governor—drawing laughter and smiles.
Anucha later explained that Lat Phrao's main issue is persistent flooding. Cleaning drainage pipes alone cannot sustainably solve the problem. His long-term plan includes constructing a large water drainage tunnel to divert water swiftly to the Chao Phraya River and the Gulf of Thailand, alongside enhancing pumping stations and floodgates. For localized flooding awaiting drainage in communities, he plans to deploy mobile water pumps with municipal officials overseeing and improving secondary drainage routes to connect fully with main pipes.
Regarding community health, he intends to upgrade health service centers to better treat general and specialized diseases by coordinating with nearby clinics and Bangkok hospitals. The policy also focuses on comprehensive care for the elderly and vulnerable groups, including building additional senior homes and employing capable retirees as volunteers to assist municipal work, with allowances provided to foster an inclusive society that leaves no one behind.
When asked about trailing in polls and his confidence, Anucha stated the Democrat Party has had dedicated personnel working in Bangkok for over 30 years. Even without official positions, party members remain committed to serving citizens across the city's 50 districts. He urged Bangkok residents to trust their sincerity, emphasizing that electing a governor and councilors from the Democrat Party team will unite local and national levels to effectively continue solving problems and build a better Bangkok. Party affiliation reflects clear responsibility and policy commitments.
