Government Mouse 2 Strictly Orders Off-Season Transfers of Senior Officials, Phuket in Turmoil as Almost Entire Administration Relocated

The Cabinet resolved to appoint 13 distinguished officials from the Ministry of Public Health to senior expert positions, while the Governor of Phuket was transferred to become Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.


On 16 June 2026, Ms. Lalida Pertwiwatthana, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed that the Cabinet meeting on 16 June 2026 approved appointments to key positions across several ministries and state enterprises. Notably, Mr. Nirat Pongsittthaworn was relieved from his post as Governor of Phuket and moved to the central administration as Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior. Meanwhile, Mr. Chotinarin Kerdsom was transferred from Deputy Permanent Secretary to become the new Governor of Phuket. Previously, two deputy governors of Phuket had already been transferred.

The Ministry of Public Health promoted 13 distinguished medical experts. The Cabinet approved the Ministry’s proposal to elevate 13 civil service specialists to senior expert academic positions. These include four appointments at the Office of the Permanent Secretary: Dr. Songkiat Lektrakul (Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital), Dr. Chaisit Thepchatree (Rayong Hospital), Mr. Supol Tatiyananthaporn (expert in therapy at the Permanent Secretary’s Office), and Dr. Ayus Phommarapha (Roi Et Hospital).

At the Department of Medical Services, six individuals were appointed: Mrs. Sutharat Tangsakulwatthana, Ms. Tatsanee Tantiritsak, Mrs. Wayupa Wongvikrom, Mr. Naruphat Suanprasert, Mr. Metha Apiwatthanakul, and Ms. Sunisa Sinthuwong. The Department of Disease Control appointed two experts: Mr. Chayanan Sitbusai and Mrs. Ketsara Saensiritavisuk. The Department of Medical Sciences appointed Ms. Panadda Thepakson.

New boards were appointed for funds and state enterprises. For the Fund for Equitable Education (FEE), five expert committee members including the chairman were appointed, to start on 10 July 2026, replacing the previous board whose term ended. Professor Wuttisan Tanchai was appointed chairman, joined by Mr. Nithi Phatchok, Associate Professor Thitipan Chueabunchai (legal expert), Mr. Pairin Chuchotthaworn (private sector), and Professor Sompong Jitralap (civil society).

The Special Case Committee (DSI) appointed Police Lieutenant General Somprasong Yenthuaem as an expert member specializing in criminal investigations, replacing a resigned member. The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) appointed Mr. Pornchai Theerawet (representing the Ministry of Finance) to the board, filling a vacancy left by a resignation. The Forest Industry Organization (FIO) appointed two new board members: Mr. Krit Uttamavetin (representing the Ministry of Agriculture) and Ms. Punnada Ingkulanon.

The National Land Policy Committee (NLPC) approved the transfer of Mr. Pavich Kesawang from Deputy Director-General of the Department of Climate Change and Environment to Deputy Director of the NLPC, Prime Minister’s Office. The Civil Aviation Training Institute extended the contract of Ms. Paknat Makchuay for another term as Governor of the Institute.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved the appointment of two political officials at the Office of the Prime Minister’s Secretariat: Mr. Peeraphon Suwanchavee and Mr. Pichai Charoensirisunthorn. It also approved the appointment of Mr. Tatpong Sasomsap as Assistant Ministerial Committee Member, effective from the date the Prime Minister signs the appointment announcement.
