Thairath Poll Shows Support for Expanding Bangkok Governors Powers to Solve Traffic and Wiring Issues, Voters Unwavering

Thairath conducted a poll among its online readers on the topic of the Bangkok governor election, with most respondents supporting granting the governor more power to address major issues.

The Thairath poll results on the topic "Voices of Bangkok residents: Opinions on increasing Bangkok governor's powers and leadership choice" had a maximum of 2,792 respondents.

One question asked was "Do you agree with reducing the central government's power and increasing the Bangkok governor's decision-making authority?" More than half of respondents, 53.70%, strongly agreed with this, followed by 37.32% agreeing for certain tasks, and the smallest group, 8.98%, disagreed.

Next was the question "If the Bangkok governor had full authority, what issues would you want them to manage?"

The top choice was electrical poles and communication cables (undergrounding/organizing) at 29.16%, followed by traffic police (controlling signals/enforcing discipline) at 24.92%, then public health, central hospitals, urban planning, and firefighting at 20.41%.

Those who felt no issue should be under the governor's full authority were 10.23%, followed by education (curriculum/student welfare) at 9.58%, and waterworks (coordinating road digging) at 5.71%.

Regarding the question"If today were election day, who would you likely vote for?"Chadchart Sittipunt led with 59.88%, followed by Chaiwat Sataworawijit at 14.98%, Mallika Boonmitrakul Mahasuk at 9.52%, M.L. Korakasiwat Kasemsri at 5.57%, Anucha Burapachaisri at 4.63%, and Pisal Kittiyaowamarn at 1.47%.

Other candidates received less than 1% each, including Samai Lalert at 0.95%, Chantep Sesawet at 0.79%,Somchai Charoenworakiat0.53%, Pongsak Puapornpong 0.42%, Weeraphot Lueprasitsakul 0.32%, Sirat Changphet 0.21%, Prateep Watcharachokkasem 0.16%, Prayoon Krongyos 0.16%, Khomsan Punwichatikul 0.16%, Phasaphong Chaiwiriyawanich 0.11%, Olan Tangtratakul 0.11%, and Lollana Mongkolhasadin 0.05%.

When asked about their residence and voting rights, 52.05% live in Bangkok and are eligible to vote for governor; 27.82% are not eligible voters; 13.80% live in Bangkok but have no voting rights; and 6.33% do not live in Bangkok but have voting rights.

Regarding the impact of policy presentations and debates from the special program "City Control Game" asking who will "control" this city, a competition of vision among Bangkok governor candidates organized by Thairath, it was found that 65.82% still chose their original candidate, 25.38% made a decision after previously being undecided, and 8.79% changed to another candidate.
