Anutin Visits Russia for Bilateral Talks with Putin on Energy Supply

Prime Minister Anutin revealed he will visit Russia to hold bilateral talks with President Putin on 18 June, focusing on energy sourcing. He acknowledged that this trip involves both selling and buying goods.

On 16 June 2026 at the Government House, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Chanvirakul spoke about his upcoming visit to the Russian Federation to attend the special ASEAN-Russia summit from 16 to 19 June 2026 in Kazan city. He said there are many topics to discuss, including agriculture, industry, and investment. Thailand imports many Russian goods and aims to increase Russian orders for Thai products. This is seen as a good opportunity. On 18 June in the evening, a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled for joint discussions.

When asked if energy, such as oil, will be discussed, Anutin said all topics will be covered because Russia is one of the key energy-producing countries.

Regarding whether this visit focuses on selling or buying goods, Anutin said nowadays everything must be two-way. Thailand offers agricultural products, food, electronic equipment, and industrial goods. At the same time, Thailand is seeking energy resources from various sources. On investment, the Russian Chamber of Commerce president has met with him before, as well as on tourism matters.
