The Prime Minister has assigned Pakorn Nilprapunt and relevant agencies to amend laws concerning foreign offenders to ensure their swift deportation. He asserted that Thailand welcomes tourists, but those who cause damage must be dealt with strictly under the law.
16 Jun 2026 GMT+7 Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed following the Cabinet meeting that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul stated that, in recent times, the government has continuously cracked down on foreign nationals involved in transnational crimes, call center scams, nominee schemes, illegal business operations, and various other offenses, with tangible results now evident.
The Prime Minister added that despite arrests and prosecutions, there are still limitations in the deportation process for foreign offenders, with many cases taking a long time. This allows such individuals to continue living normally and potentially reoffend.
Accordingly, at the Cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister assigned Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapunt, the Royal Thai Police through the Immigration Bureau, and the Ministry of Interior to jointly consider amending immigration laws and related regulations to make the deportation process for foreign offenders faster, more flexible, and more efficient. All involved agencies are urged to consider national security, protection of public interests, and Thailand's international obligations simultaneously.
At the same time, the Prime Minister emphasized that “We must collectively emphasize and communicate that Thailand warmly welcomes foreigners who come to travel, invest, and conduct business honestly. However, those who violate laws or cause harm to the country will face strict legal action and be deported as swiftly as possible.”
