
Ratchada revealed that the Cabinet is closely monitoring the Super El Niño phenomenon, with the Prime Minister ordering a report on water security plans for consumption and agriculture for next week.
At the Cabinet meeting on 16 June 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, disclosed that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul expressed concern over the Super El Niño situation. He has already instructed relevant agencies to prepare and establish measures to address its impacts.
These plans and measures will cover water for consumption, agriculture, industry, the environment, and biodiversity—key issues directly related to people’s livelihoods and the country's economic security.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister instructed all responsible agencies to present their operational plans, implemented measures, and progress on preparedness at the Cabinet meeting next week.
Additionally, the Prime Minister expressed concern for the safety of citizens and their property, which may be affected by unstable weather conditions, thunderstorms, strong winds, and summer storms causing tree branches and trees to fall in many areas.
He assigned the Ministry of Interior, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, local administrative organizations, and related agencies to urgently survey risk areas, prune trees, and inspect advertising signs, buildings, and various public utilities.These are elements that might be affected.They were also instructed to develop preventive measures and emergency response plans to be ready to handle any situation at all times.
