Cabinet Approves 14 Million Baht Supplementary Budget for Election Commission to Pay Compensation for Printing Lists of Non-Voters

The Cabinet approved a supplementary central budget of 14,863,864 baht to the Registration Office, Department of Provincial Administration, under the Election Commission, as compensation for printing lists of those who did not vote in the recent election and referendum.


At the Cabinet meeting on 16 June 2026, Ms. Ploytale Laksamee Sangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the Cabinet in principle approved the Election Commission's request to receive additional central budget support for fiscal year 2026, totaling 14,863,864 baht, to compensate the Registration Office staff for printing lists of non-voters and referendum absentees, as proposed by the Election Commission.

Ms. Ploytale explained that the Cabinet had previously approved on 30 December 2025 a budget request for expenses related to controlling and organizing the general election of members of the House of Representatives and the referendum held on the same day as the general election on 8 February 2026, totaling 7,824.04 million baht. This included 325.35 million baht for the Registration Office, Department of Provincial Administration. Later, the Election Commission was informed by the Registration Office that the allocated budget was insufficient because it did not include compensation for staff preparing lists of those who did not vote or participate in the referendum at district and local registration offices, amounting to a total of 14,863,864 baht.


The Budget Bureau agreed with the Cabinet's consideration to approve the Election Commission's proposal in principle, requesting the Election Commission and the Registration Office to prepare detailed work and budget plans that comply with laws and regulations, ensuring completeness and proper procedures, with a focus on cost-effectiveness.Efficiency, economy, and goal assessment,and the benefits, effectiveness, and outcomes expected from the implementation, in accordance with the State Financial Discipline Act of 2018.
