Thanathorn declined to comment on the government's TH-AI Passport project and the Senate vote-rigging case, saying his party colleagues have already spoken extensively. He wants today's message to focus on the Bangkok gubernatorial election.
On 17 June 2026, at the Navy flats on Suksawat Road in Rat Burana district, Bangkok, Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, chairman of the Progressive Movement, campaigned to support Chaiwat Staworawijit, also known as Dr. Joe, the People's Party candidate for Bangkok governor. Reporters asked about the TH-AI Passport project, one of the People's Party proposals, which calls on Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to cancel the project.
Thanathorn said, "My colleagues in the party have probably spoken extensively. It's better to follow up with them." When pressed for his opinion on the project, he repeated, "Better to follow up with my colleagues. I don't want today's message to be muddled. I want today's message to be about the Bangkok gubernatorial election. Sorry."
When asked about the Election Commission's performance in investigating the Senate vote-rigging case, Thanathorn said, "I think it's better to ask the party about political matters. I don't want today's message to be too much. Let's focus on the message about Bangkok."
