Romdon Hayiawa, the new Deputy Governor of Phuket, reported to the Provincial Governor before officially beginning his duties, following his transfer from Deputy Governor of Songkhla to Deputy Governor of Phuket.
On 17 June 2026 GMT+7, Romdon Hayiawa, former Deputy Governor of Songkhla, who was appointed Deputy Governor of Phuket, arrived in Phuket for his first day.
Before entering the Phuket Provincial Hall, Romdon met with Nirath Pongsiththaworn, Governor of Phuket, to introduce himself and report for duty. At the time, the Governor was attending a special lecture for the 85th class of the Senior Administrative Officers Course (SAOC) at a hotel in Phuket city.
Afterwards, Romdon proceeded to the Phuket Provincial Hall, entered his office as Deputy Governor to prepare for task assignments and begin collaborating with provincial government agencies.
However, on his first day in office, Romdon did not give interviews to the media, stating that since he had just arrived to assume the position, he preferred to wait to receive task assignments from the Governor regarding his areas of responsibility.
He affirmed his strong intention to work fully for the people of Phuket and expressed readiness to cooperate with all sectors to advance the province's development.
Romdon Hayiawa is among several senior executives appointed amid a restructuring of multiple management positions in Phuket, a change that has attracted attention from government, private sector, and local residents regarding the future administrative direction.
