Somsak prepares to kick off the "One District, One Drug Rehabilitation Center" project, starting first in So Phisai District, Bueng Kan Province, on 21 June after chairing a meeting of the Drug Rehabilitation and Recovery Committee that approved establishing district-level recovery centers.
At 13:30 on 17 June 2026 at the Government House, Deputy Prime Minister Somsak Thongsri chaired the second meeting of the Drug Rehabilitation and Recovery Committee for 2026. Minister of Public Health Pattana Promphat and related agencies also attended the meeting.
At 15:50, Somsak revealed after the meeting that the committee approved and endorsed the following: 1. To advance the short-term district-level drug rehabilitation center model, implementing it in 31 provinces covering 468 districts in fiscal year 2026, and expanding to 76 provinces with 878 districts in fiscal year 2027; 2. To approve the Fast Model drug rehabilitation curriculum under the "United Power, Faith, and Love" integrated drug problem-solving project; 3. To approve the short-term district-level rehabilitation center model, directing the subcommittee on establishment and quality control to coordinate with the Ministry of Interior to develop criteria and procedures for rapid establishment.
Somsak added that the meeting also acknowledged and approved the integrated "United Power, Faith, and Love" drug problem-solving project under the government's "One District, One Drug Rehabilitation Center" policy. The kickoff event will take place on 21 June 2026 at the So Phisai District Office, Bueng Kan Province. The event will also launch the "Lom Rak" application and include a visit to the district-level drug rehabilitation center at the So Phisai Volunteer Defense Corps, where the Mini Thanya Rak center at So Phisai Hospital will be opened.
