Sabida Meets Chinese Ambassador, Agrees to Cooperate on Cultural Heritage to Promote Asian Culture Globally

Sabida welcomed the Chinese Ambassador to Thailand in celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, emphasizing the use of culture as a bridge to strengthen ties and promote Asian culture globally.


On 17 June 2026 at 10:00 AM, Zhang Jianwei, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Thailand, paid a courtesy visit to Ms. Sabida Thai-set, Minister of Culture, to discuss ways to promote and enhance cultural cooperation between Thailand and China. The meeting was attended by Ms. Ranee Itarat, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and representative of the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Parmet Potharakul, Advisor to the Minister of Culture, Ms. Sarasnan Arnanoppon, Secretary to the Minister of Culture, Ms. Urusaya Inthrasuksri, Assistant Permanent Secretary, along with Ministry of Culture executives, representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, and related officials, at the reception room on the 7th floor of the Vasisht Cultural Building, Ministry of Culture.


In this meeting, both sides exchanged views and discussed strategies to drive cultural cooperation following the 50th anniversary of Thai-Chinese diplomatic relations in 2025. They aimed to build upon cultural exchanges to achieve more concrete outcomes, including personnel development, promotion of the creative industry, cultural tourism, as well as cooperation in film, museums, and high-level visits between the two countries' leaders.


The Minister of Culture emphasized the importance of using culture as a bridge to connect the peoples of both countries, promoting learning, knowledge exchange, and experience in cultural management to jointly develop cultural capital that can sustainably create social and economic value.


Additionally, both parties discussed cooperation on cultural heritage within the UNESCO framework and expressed mutual commitment to promote collaboration in cultural heritage to support the conservation and dissemination of Asian cultural identity to the global stage.


This discussion marks a significant step in strengthening the close friendship between Thailand and China, reflecting their shared commitment to use culture as a creative force to enhance mutual understanding among peoples, develop personnel potential, and create new economic and social opportunities, leading to sustainable and mutually beneficial cooperation in the future.
