Deputy Interior Ministers Phonphir Suwannachavi and Warasit Liangprasit visited Patong Walking Street to listen to business issues and prepare policies to drive Phuket forward. They aim to unlock outdated laws that have not kept pace with the world, adjusting them to better fit business needs and make Phuket an attractive investment destination.
On 18 June 2026, reporters reported that on 17 June at 9:00 p.m., Mr. Phonphir Suwannachavi and Mr. Warasit Liangprasit, Deputy Ministers of the Interior, along with their team, visited Patong Walking Street in Phuket to meet and inquire about issues from local business operators.
Mr. Warasit said after the visit that the purpose was to survey the actual situation and listen to the opinions of business operators. This information will be used to guide policy directives for officials the next day, with the key goal of creating an environment conducive to business so that Phuket’s residents and operators can work and operate without exploitation or hardship, aiming for the best outcomes for Phuket.
When asked about solutions for local problems, Mr. Warasit said many issues are still in processes that require legal adjustments, while some have conditions and limitations that must be considered. The objective is to bring everything into a proper, transparent system that aligns as closely as possible with current circumstances.
Mr. Warasit acknowledged that some laws and ministerial regulations are outdated, having been in use for over 10-20 years. Therefore, they need updating to keep pace with today’s economic and social conditions. He emphasized that the government wants to facilitate citizens and operators to comply with laws more easily and to ensure everything follows the proper processes as much as possible.
