Peoples Party Denies Lobbying DSI to Delay Forex Case Affirms Cooperation in Investigating Pawut

Pakamon revealed that the People's Party is ready to cooperate with the DSI in a straightforward investigation into Pawut's alleged involvement in the Forex case. She denied lobbying to delay the release of names until after the Bangkok election and urged a clear announcement on 19 June for fairness to all parties involved.

On 18 June 2026 at the parliament, Ms. Pakamon Noon Anan, party-list MP and spokesperson for the People's Party (PChn), clarified the situation regarding MP Pawut Pongwittayaphanu, a party-list MP of PChn, who has been linked in media reports to the Forex case currently under investigation by the Department of Special Investigation (DSI). She stated that since the DSI has yet to make an official announcement and is only hinting or speculating on the names involved, this could be unfair to those accused. The party is waiting for an official name disclosure from the DSI. If any MPs are involved, regardless of the level of wrongdoing, the party will provide clear explanations. She added that whoever the individual is, there must be public clarification of their involvement, and the People's Party has never protected wrongdoers.

"Today, we ask for fairness for all of us: let the DSI release the names first, whether they are 100% accurate or not. There will be an official detailed statement made with honesty. Although I am the party spokesperson, I do not know who is involved nor have I discussed the details of each individual’s past actions. I assure that once the DSI reveals the names, if any People's Party MPs are implicated, we will explain the details of what happened. I reaffirm that if the wrongdoing is unacceptable and clearly proven, the People's Party will never protect the wrongdoers," said Ms. Pakamon.

Ms. Pakamon added that so far, the news has only appeared on the headlines; there has been no discussion with MP Pawut himself. He has publicly denied any involvement according to the reports and urged the DSI to disclose the names first. Whether the announcement is made today or another day, it should clearly state the names. The People's Party will provide detailed statements if any party members are found involved.

When asked about reports that the People's Party attempted to lobby the DSI to postpone the name disclosure, Ms. Pakamon said she was not aware and honestly only saw news that the DSI was going to make an announcement. The news did not specify the date, but it is known to be on 19 June. She said they would wait until tomorrow; if it turns out that anyone in the People's Party is involved, there will be public explanations. She requested fairness for those named and said the facts should be awaited from the DSI's announcement.

"Because if people speculate now, there can be countless guesses since there are many Thai characters. So, I think we should all remain calm. I confirm that the People's Party accepts everything and is responsible to the public. No matter what allegations arise, we can explain publicly. If allegations lead to legal action or confirmed cases against any party members, the party will never protect wrongdoers," Ms. Pakamon said.

When asked if this issue would affect the People's Party in the Bangkok election campaign, Ms. Pakamon said frankly that any activity has political consequences. However, the party does not claim or label this as a political game. They will let events unfold and fulfill their role to manage and accept everything that happens.
