The Social Security Office (SSO) is energizing insured persons and employers to register for voting in the Social Security Board election, with the registration deadline on 15 July. This election will determine the fate of the fund's finances.
On 18 June 2026, the Social Security Office (SSO) launched a major campaign to promote participation, inviting employers and insured persons nationwide to register to vote for representatives to the Social Security Board. The goal is for these representatives to play a key role in setting the direction and managing the Social Security Fund’s future. The SSO revealed that over 550,000 people have eagerly registered so far. The SSO Secretary-General reminded that less than a month remains, with registration closing on 15 July, urging, "Don’t let your rights slip away."
A reporter covering the Social Security Board election registration progress from the Social Security Office found that the number of registered voters has risen sharply to 559,842, reflecting strong awareness among fund members. This includes 557,074 insured persons and 2,768 employers. Those elected will represent and safeguard the interests of Social Security Fund members nationwide.
Regarding eligibility criteria for registration, the SSO clearly states that voters must be Thai nationals who have been employers or insured persons continuously for at least 6 months up to the election announcement month. They must have contributed to the Social Security Fund for at least 3 months within the 6 months before the election announcement. If a person holds both employer and insured person status, they may only register under one status.
Registration channels include the SSO Plus application or the e-Self Service system for insured persons, and the e-Service system on the SSO website for employers.www.sso.go.thAlternatively, registrations can be submitted in person at Social Security offices across Bangkok, regional areas, provinces, and branches nationwide. For transparency, the Social Security Office has also launched a Dashboard on its website that reports registration numbers in real time, updating every 3 hours. The public can check registration figures by province and by insured persons’ contribution categories at any time.
The registration system will remain open until 15 July 2026. The SSO will officially announce the list of eligible voters and polling locations starting 10 August 2026.
