Pawat Absent from TH-AI Passport Committee Meeting Amid Forex Case Link

Pawat Pongwittayaphanu, MP, was not present at the parliamentary and committee meetings discussing the crucial agenda on the TH-AI Passport project, despite previously being a key figure in its oversight, following his name being linked to a Forex case.

On 18 Jun 2026 GMT+7, reporters at the parliament reported that during the House of Representatives and committee meetings on budget management oversight and the Committee on Law, Justice, and Human Rights—chaired by Rakchanok Srinok, a People’s Party party-list MP, and Rangsiman Rome, also a People’s Party party-list MP—key agenda items related to the TH-AI Passport project were discussed. However, Pawat Pongwittayaphanu, People’s Party party-list MP, did not attend, even though he has been a significant figure monitoring and raising questions about the project.

Amid widespread public attention on the investigation of networks soliciting investments and trading foreign exchange (Forex) illegally, authorities conducted raids at 24 locations nationwide, seizing assets valued over 65 million baht and freezing numerous related bank accounts. The investigation covers 57 individuals and 20 legal entities, with further examination of links involving politicians and entertainment industry figures. Pawat Pongwittayaphanu, People’s Party party-list MP, has been named in connection with this case.
