Poll Reveals Bangkok Governor Election Race: Chadchart Still Leading, Mallika Surpasses Dr. Joe for Second Place

NIDA Poll reveals that in the final phase of the 2026 Bangkok Governor election, Bangkok residents are ready to vote for Chadchart, who leads strongly in first place; Mallika holds second place, overtaking Dr. Joe. For Bangkok Council (BMC) elections, independents rank first, followed by the People’s Party, then the Democrat Party.


On 19 June 2026, the NIDA Poll Center at the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) released survey results titled “Final Phase of the 2026 Bangkok Governor Election.” The survey was conducted from 15-17 June 2026 among residents aged 18 and over with voting rights in Bangkok, covering all 50 districts across various education levels, occupations, and income groups, totaling 2,000 samples. It assessed Bangkok residents' voting trends for the Governor and Bangkok Council members. The survey used probability sampling from NIDA Poll’s Master Sample database, employing multi-stage sampling and telephone interviews, with a margin of error not exceeding 0.05 at a 97.0% confidence level.


The survey asked about the voting tendencies of Bangkok residents for the Governor position and found that:

First place, 72.35%, was for Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt (Independent).

Second place, 9.60%, was for Ms. Mallika Bunmitrakul Mahasuk (Independent).

Third place, 8.80%, was for Mr. Chaiwat Staworawijit (People’s Party).

Fourth place, 3.10%, was for Mr. Anucha Burapachaisri (Democrat Party).

Fifth place, 2.70%, indicated undecided voters.

Sixth place, 1.35%, was for Mom Luang Korakasiwat Kasemsri (Independent).

An additional 2.10% named others, including Mr. Samai Lalert (Independent), Police Lieutenant General Chanthep Sesavej (Economic Party), Mr. Phasapong Chaiwirinyawanich (Independent), Mr. Pongsak Puapornpong (Independent), Mr. Prayoon Krongyot (Independent), Mr. Somchai Charoenworakiet (Independent), Mr. Prateep Watcharachokkasem (Independent), Mr. Komsan Panchatikul (Independent), the option “Vote No,” and those who will abstain (No Vote).

Regarding Bangkok Council (BMC) election preferences among Bangkok residents, the findings were:

First place, 32.85%, chose independents.

Second place, 27.80%, selected the People’s Party.

Third place, 12.30%, chose the Democrat Party.

Fourth place, 8.60%, indicated undecided.

Fifth place, 7.30%, chose the Work Team.

Sixth place, 6.85%, chose the Pheu Thai Life Team.

Seventh place, 1.35%, chose the Better Bangkok Team.

Eighth place, 1.15%, selected the “Vote No” option.

An additional 1.80% named others, including the Economic Party, Nong Khaem Development Group, and those abstaining (No Vote).
