Thanakorn counters Sirikanya by assembling 30 warriors to attack the 2027 budget, challenging her to present evidence and urging against mudslinging followed by evasion. He also suggests she speaks half-truths to seek personal gain rather than honest debate.
On 20 June 2026, Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, party-list MP of the Bhumjaithai Party and former Minister of Industry, commented on Sirikanya Tansakul, party-list MP and deputy leader of the Prachachon Party, who announced plans to send a team of about 30 to debate the 2027 fiscal year budget bill and the 2026 budget transfer bill. Thanakorn said that if the opposition debates with principles and reasoning, it would be good for ensuring government budget transparency and efficiency. However, if there are no errors, the opposition should support the government for the nation's benefit.
Thanakorn added he does not want the opposition to repeatedly claim attempts to discredit or broadly declare the government is at risk of corruption without evidence. If clear evidence exists, it should be revealed and pursued through legal channels, rather than making vague accusations, mudslinging for amusement, and then disappearing without accountability.
Regarding Sirikanya’s criticism that the government’s budget situation is at a “breaking point” with soaring recurrent expenditures and declining investment budget, Thanakorn retorted that irresponsible remarks are easy to make. The opposition is well aware that the rise in recurrent spending did not start with this administration. He urged fairness toward the government and warned against half-truths that confuse the public and ultimately degrade the opposition party’s credibility.
“Claims that the government is failing or concealing chronic wounds are completely mistaken. Under the leadership of Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, the government has never hidden anything from the public. Today, the government is acting as a ‘doctor’ to heal long-accumulated chronic wounds as quickly as possible. This may take some time, but ultimately, things will steadily improve,” Thanakorn stated.
The former Minister of Industry also cited international economic indicators to reinforce confidence, noting that the IMD recently raised Thailand’s competitiveness ranking by four places, while the global credit rating agency S&P maintained Thailand’s credit rating at its current level. These are concrete proofs reflecting the continued international confidence in Thailand’s stability and potential, which will encourage more investors and tourists to come. He expressed gratitude to the public for their trust and cooperation with the government in driving the country forward.
