Yodchai Puengporn, MP for Chonburi from the Prachachon Party, filed a police report after receiving a mysterious phone call threatening to shoot him and dissolve his party. He said the country has entered a dark era and urged the Prime Minister to crack down on mafia groups, requesting the Police Chief to apprehend the anonymous caller.
At 17:50 on 19 June 2026, Yodchai Puengporn, MP for Chonburi from the Prachachon Party, posted on Facebook a photo of himself filing a police report at Bang Lamung Police Station along with the message: “Mysterious phone call threatening to shoot MP.” That afternoon, while studying at the King Prajadhipok Institute with classmates, his phone rang from a mobile number. He stepped outside to answer, expecting a constituent calling with a complaint. However, the caller asked if he was MP Yodchai, then threatened to dissolve the party and shoot him before hanging up. He noted that other MPs from the three southern border provinces had been shot while returning home, injuring two aides severely. Another Prachachon MP, Chalermpong Sangdee from Phuket, had also been threatened with shooting via social media. Now, MP Yodchai from Pattaya, Nong Prue district, Chonburi, received a threatening call intending to kill him. This shows that our country has entered a dark era where mafia and influential groups dominate, threatening and targeting important legislative figures, one of Thailand’s three pillars of power. Such events damage the country’s image as a democratic constitutional monarchy and member of global organizations like the UN, WHO, and WTO, yet elected representatives still face death threats.
He therefore called on the government, led by Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, to urgently implement policies to suppress mafia and influential groups, restoring public confidence and governing responsibly as entrusted by the people. He stressed the need to properly protect key national figures and urged Police Chief Kittirat Phanphet, as the law enforcement authority and protector of public peace, to swiftly enforce the law and track down the anonymous caller.
