
"Je Seth" has ordered the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation to inform the public to avoid the route from Charoen Sawat Bridge to Mo Mee Intersection, while placing the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team on standby to support Bangkok in preventing further collapse of the building awning.
On 20 Jun 2026 GMT+7, Je Seth Thaiset, Deputy Minister of Interior, instructed the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) to respond to the collapse of a two-story building awning near Mo Mee Intersection on Rama IV Road, Bangkok. He ordered an urgent Cell Broadcast warning to nearby residents and directed the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning to coordinate with Bangkok authorities to assist the public, inspect the building's interior to prevent recurrence, and ensure the safety of officials involved.
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported that initially one person was seriously injured, with three cars and two motorcycles damaged. Emergency medical services, Bangkok police, and foundation volunteers responded to clear the area and transport the injured to hospital. Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority cut off power, and police blocked traffic at the scene to expedite clearance.
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has placed the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR Thailand) team on standby to support Bangkok if requested in case of further building collapse. They have also issued a Cell Broadcast warning advising the public to avoid the traffic route from Charoen Sawat Bridge to Mo Mee Intersection for safety until rescue and clearance operations are complete.
