Starting Today, the Election Commission Reminds Voters to Report Reasons for Not Voting Before Bangkok and Pattaya Elections

The Election Commission emphasizes to the public the need to report reasons for not voting in the elections for Bangkok Governor, Bangkok Council members, Pattaya Mayor, and Pattaya Council members before the election period from 21 to 27 June, and after the election from 29 June to 5 July 2026.

On 21 June 2026, the Office of the Election Commission publicizes that eligible voters for the elections of Bangkok Governor, Bangkok Metropolitan Council members (BMC), Pattaya Mayor, and Pattaya City Council members (PCC) who are unable to cast their votes on Sunday, 28 June 2026, may report their reasons for not voting within the legally specified periods as follows:

1. Report reasons for inability to vote before election day, during 21–27 June 2026.

2. Report reasons for inability to vote after election day, during 29 June – 5 July 2026.

This can be done by submitting form S.Th./P.Th. 1/8 or a written statement, which must at minimum include the voter’s identification number and registered address clearly, along with an explanation of why they could not vote, through the following channels:

Eligible voters who do not vote and fail to report a valid reason, or report an insufficient reason, will be restricted from certain rights for two years from the election day on which they failed to vote, as follows:

(1) Registering as a candidate for Member of the House of Representatives (MP), local council member (LC), local executive (LE), or senator (SEN).

(2) Registering as a village headman or village chief.

(3) Initiating petitions to recall local council members or local executives.

(4) Holding positions as political officials or political parliamentary officials.

(5) Holding positions such as deputy local executive, secretary to local executive, assistant secretary, local executive, chairman of advisors to local executives, advisor to local executives, or member of the advisory committee to local executives.

(6) Holding positions as secretary to the chairman of local council, assistant secretary to the chairman of local council, or secretary to the deputy chairman of local council.

. The Election Commission therefore invites eligible voters to exercise their right to vote on Sunday, 28 June 2026, from 08:00 to 17:00, at their designated polling stations. This is to collectively ensure an election that is honest, transparent, neutral, and fair.
