21 June 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut A party-list member of parliament and leader of the People’s Party, he spoke about his confidence during the final phase of the Bangkok governor election campaign. Mr. Chaiwat Sathaworawijit the People’s Party candidate for Bangkok governor, said he is confident in the entire People’s Party team, including Mr. Chaiwat, the management team, and all 50 candidates for Bangkok council seats, with seven days left until 28 June.
He stressed that the most important thing for Bangkok residents today is for everyone to vote to bring about positive change for Bangkok. Although there have been many governor elections, Bangkok still faces problems bigger than just the visible ones like uneven sidewalks, poor drainage, and inadequate lighting. The real issues include living costs, persistent municipal enforcement corruption, and bribery in licensing, which cannot be resolved without local political representation in the Bangkok council to support the governor.
Having a strong council truly representing the people to help manage and review budgets transparently through progressive regulations will be a vital force to improve Bangkok. Therefore, the People’s Party is an appealing choice with a management team led by Mr. Chaiwat ready to work, 50 council candidates covering all districts, and the support of 119 MPs to push national legislation in parliament.
Regarding the current poll where Ms. Mallika Boonmitrakul Mahasuk, the governor candidate, has overtaken Mr. Chaiwat, Mr. Natthapong said they accept all poll results with respect but recalled that in the 2019 election, he was behind in polls at 3-4% yet won the election. He stressed that the most accurate poll is the one on election day. From now until then, he and the People’s Party will work to make Bangkok residents see the importance of this election and vote with hope, choosing not only to fix visible problems but a leader who will drive change for a better Bangkok.
When asked if Prof. Dr. Surapol Nitikraipot will remain strategic advisor if the People’s Party wins, Mr. Natthapong confirmed he still holds the position with no changes. Asked if there is a final key move, the party leader said that following the Policy Fest launched yesterday, which outlined visions addressing economic issues, livelihoods, and improved council work, along with 100-day policies leading up to the election, they are continuously communicating what benefits Bangkok residents most. He urged everyone to follow their communications and candidates closely and to vote powerfully on 28 June.
