Karavee hopes the opposition will debate the 2027 budget constructively and without satire. He believes the three-day period is sufficient and warns that discussions must stay within the budget framework; if accusations against ministers go too far, protests could erupt.
On 21 Jun 2026, Karavee Prasnanantakul, Member of Parliament for Ang Thong and Chairman of the Government Whip from the Bhumjaithai Party, spoke about preparations for debating the 2027 budget bill scheduled from 29 Jun to 1 Jul. Each day’s session will run from 9:00 a.m. until past midnight. On the final day, 1 Jul, a vote will take place in the evening. He is confident the time is sufficient for thorough consideration. Next week, there will be discussions among the whips of the three parties, government cabinet representatives, government whip, and opposition whip to set frameworks and allocate time for each side. Bhumjaithai MPs will appoint speakers to present how the government’s budget will benefit the public. On 29 Jun, the party will hold a meeting to establish the framework and key points for the debate.
Regarding the atmosphere of the 2027 budget deliberations, if the debate remains within the government’s budget framework, all suggestions and opinions will be welcomed. The government is open to hearing concerns and proposals from the opposition. The goal is a constructive debate. If there are disagreements or areas for improvement, they should be proposed clearly—not through satirical remarks—since this is not a no-confidence debate but a separate forum. The expectation is that debates will present policies clearly, for example, noting if a ministry’s budget allocation or project is inappropriate. Such points are acceptable. The government does not want disruptive protests. However, if the debate crosses the line by accusing ministers or the prime minister, it will exceed the scope of this budget debate and may lead to disorder.
