
Suriyasai, the Minister of Agriculture, confirms that Thailand's fertilizer situation remains sufficient despite the Hormuz Strait not yet reopening. He revealed they are awaiting a meeting with Malaysia's Agriculture Minister to resolve the suspension of five Thai shrimp species' imports.
At 09:20 on 22 June 2026 at the Government House, Suriyasai Jungroongruangkit, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, was interviewed about progress on negotiations with Malaysia's Agriculture Minister to lift the suspension on importing five Thai shrimp species. He said they are currently awaiting a confirmation letter scheduling the meeting with Malaysia's Agriculture Minister.
When asked about the Thai Shrimp Association's proposal to tighten inspections of Malaysian sea bass imports for discussion, Suriyasai said they would wait for the confirmation letter from Malaysia's Agriculture Minister first.
Regarding the fertilizer situation in Thailand following the continued closure of the Hormuz Strait, Suriyasai said that there are currently no problems with fertilizer supply and assured that it will remain sufficient through the end of the planting season.
