Watchara Files Repeated Complaint Against NACC Secretary Over Promotion and Pay Raise of Special Case Investigation Bureau Director

"Watchara" has filed a repeated complaint against the NACC Secretary regarding abuse of power in promoting and raising the salary of the Director of the Special Case Investigation Bureau, fearing that the NACC Chairman might conceal the matter by not placing it on the agenda.

22 June 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Watchara Phetthong a former Democrat Party MP, stated that he had submitted a letter to Mr. Suchart Trakulkasemsuk, Chairman of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC). On 17 June 2026, requesting the formation of a committee to investigate Mr. Surapong Intarathaworn, the NACC Secretary-General regarding NACC Office Order No. 455/2569 dated 29 May 2026, which promoted and increased the pay of Mr. Jorng Kraomoh, Director of the Investigation and Special Affairs Bureau to Director of the Special Case Investigation Bureau. This occurred even though Mr. Jorng had recently caused a drunk driving accident that killed a delivery rider on the night of 27 May 2026.

As a result of this order, Mr. Jorng received an increased special allowance, raising his monthly position allowance from 18,000 baht to 40,000 baht—an increase of 22,000 baht, or over 100%. The position of Director of the Special Case Investigation Bureau is higher-level with greater authority than his previous post.

He raised suspicions that Mr. Jorng's promotion might be due to favoritism, as NACC officials are questioning how someone responsible for a fatal drunk driving incident could advance so well. The public is also doubting the NACC's integrity system, wondering why it has deteriorated so significantly. For these reasons, he resubmitted the letter to all eight NACC commissioners on 19 June 2026, fearing the Chairman would not place the matter on the NACC committee meeting agenda.
