Dr. Patcharin launched a seminar in Chiang Rai, joining forces with the Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) and Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University to intensively train partner networks, aiming to raise awareness of financial threats in the electronic era.
On 22 June 2026 at the Chiang Rung Conference Room, WIANG INN Hotel, Chiang Rai province, the Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB), together with Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, organized a major seminar to strengthen partner networks. The event, titled “Consumer Protection and Electronic Financial Transactions and Digital Services,” was opened by Associate Professor Dr. Sudawan Somjai, project leader, who explained the objective to promote digital financial threat awareness among the public.
The event’s highlight was a panel discussion entitled “Perspectives on Thai Consumer Protection from National Executives,” featuring Dr. Patcharin Samsiripong (“Secretary Som”), Secretary to the Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office (acting for Minister Supamas Isarapakdi), along with General Sitthichai Makkunchorn, member of the Monitoring and Evaluation Committee on Consumer Protection, and Dr. Komsan Laosilpcharoen, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries, who jointly analyzed directions in the digital era.
Dr. Patcharin outlined a proactive policy to protect citizens’ rights under the “OCPB Plus” framework from Minister Supamas Isarapakdi. The policy emphasizes five key dimensions: proactive prevention to stop harm before it spreads widely; one-stop service offering integrated complaint handling through collaboration with all relevant agencies; strict regulation and supervision of online platforms and e-commerce businesses; use of AI technology to enhance consumer protection and detect abnormalities; and establishing OCPB as a 'white organization' operating with good governance principles—honesty, transparency, accountability, free from discrimination, corruption, or conflicts of interest, with the public at the center.
Consumers suffering from issues with goods or services can file complaints or seek advice anytime via the OCPB hotline 1166, the OCPB Connect application, or the website www.ocpb.go.th, available 24 hours a day.
