Anutin Dismisses Calls for Self-Assessment, Reveals Budget Bill for 2027 Passed Cabinet, Challenges Opposition to Present Facts

The Prime Minister responded firmly to questions about who would measure his KPIs, stressing that the leadership role is distinct from that of ministers, and that the people will be the ones to assess him in the voting booth.

On 23 June 2026, Anutin Chanvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior as well as leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, was interviewed regarding news about the KPI evaluations of ministers from his party. When asked whether details had been reported in the Cabinet meeting, Anutin clearly stated he had not mentioned this because it is his exclusive right as party leader and head of government. He added that if he wants to evaluate or make changes, he can do so immediately. This is the difference in being Prime Minister.

When asked who would measure the Prime Minister's own KPIs if ministers are evaluated, Anutin answered promptly that the people would do so. He explained that every election serves as this measurement, emphasizing that he is not exempt from evaluation. It depends on elections, not an arbitrary four-year schedule. Whenever elections occur, the people are the ones who measure his KPIs—and they do more than just measure; they decide.

When further asked how confident he is about completing a full four-year term in office, Anutin briefly replied, "I will just do my best."

Anutin also updated progress on preparations for the budget debate, saying the Cabinet has approved the draft Budget Expenditure Act for fiscal year 2027. They also agreed to establish a 72-member special parliamentary committee to review the budget bill. He noted that all procedures have been smoothly completed.

When pressed on whether the government needs special preparation due to opposition scrutiny of major projects, the Prime Minister confidently concluded that the government has only facts and no falsehoods on this matter.
