Cabinet Approves Budget Transfer and Fiscal Year 2027 Budget Bills Prime Minister Emphasizes Transparency and Readiness to Address All Inquiries

The Cabinet approved the Budget Transfer Bill and the Fiscal Year 2027 Budget Bill. The Prime Minister emphasized his readiness to address all inquiries openly, transparently, and with accountability for public scrutiny and verification purposes.

At 2:00 p.m. on 23 June 2026 at the Government House, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced after the Cabinet meeting that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul stated in the meeting that the government attaches great importance to the debate on the draft Budget Transfer Bill and the Fiscal Year 2027 Budget Bill. He urged all Cabinet members to fully provide information to members of the House of Representatives on all inquiries, including explaining to the public the progress in addressing various issues and policies aimed at improving the quality of life for all Thai people. Furthermore, the Cabinet agreed to the proposals from the Budget Bureau as follows:

1. The Cabinet approved the draft Budget Transfer Bill, which has been reviewed by the Office of the Council of State, amounting to 10.328 billion baht, along with six accompanying documents, and authorized submission to the House of Representatives.

Regarding the special committee to consider the draft Budget Transfer Bill, the Cabinet approved a panel of 25 members, divided into six appointed by the Cabinet and 19 by political parties, matching the number of the special committee overseeing loan expenditures under the ministerial decree granting the Ministry of Finance borrowing authority to address energy crisis impacts and support the country’s energy transition in 2026. This arrangement ensures careful budget consideration in line with the 2019 House of Representatives Meeting Rules.

2. The Cabinet approved the draft Fiscal Year 2027 Budget Bill, reviewed by the Office of the Council of State, with a ceiling of no more than 3.788 trillion baht, accompanied by 38 supporting documents, and authorized submission to the House of Representatives.

Regarding the special committee to consider the draft Fiscal Year 2027 Budget Bill, the Cabinet approved a panel of 72 members, consistent with the number approved by the House of Representatives for fiscal years 2021–2025, comprising 18 appointed by the Cabinet and 54 by political parties.

According to the budget calendar, the House of Representatives will consider the draft Budget Transfer Bill in its first reading on 25 June 2026. Then, from 29 June to 1 July 2026, it will consider the draft Fiscal Year 2027 Budget Bill. The public can access the documents for both bills through the Budget Bureau's website.
