Department of Local Administration Issues Urgent Statement on Local Exam Fraud, Assigns Srinakharinwirot University Full Control of System

The Department of Local Administration (DLA) has issued an urgent statement regarding the local exam fraud case, stating that Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) managed the system from start to finish and affirming that anyone involved will be thoroughly prosecuted.

On 23 June 2026, the Department of Local Administration (DLA) under the Ministry of Interior officially released a statement to the media concerning corruption in the competitive exams for local government civil servants. This followed a joint raid by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) and the Anti-Corruption Police Division on a residence in Bang Len Subdistrict, Bang Yai District, Nonthaburi Province, which was used for "altering answer sheets" to adjust scores in favor of candidates who paid bribes. The main suspect is Mr. P., currently the director of the Strategy and Budget Division of a municipality in Phetchabun Province, who reportedly stored a large number of answer sheets at that location.

The Department of Local Administration explained the exam process, noting that the Central Committee for Local Government Employee Exams (CCLGEE) resolved to assign the DLA to procure and organize the 2025 competitive exams. The DLA contracted Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) to fully manage the exam process from beginning to end. SWU's responsibilities included preparing and selecting exam questions, printing, transporting, arranging exam venues, conducting the exams for parts A, B, and C, processing scores for official listings, and securely storing all exam materials and answer sheets.

Furthermore, the DLA stated that throughout every step, seven main anti-corruption partner organizations closely observed the process: the DLA, NACC, the Office of the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission, the Anti-Corruption Police Division, the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), the Anti-Money Laundering Office, and the CCLGEE. Currently, all answer sheets remain securely stored in a locked room provided by SWU per the Terms of Reference (TOR), secured with two sets of locks—one key held by SWU and the other by the DLA—with 24-hour CCTV surveillance in place,

In closing, the Department of Local Administration emphasized its commitment to fully cooperate with all investigative agencies regarding the ongoing allegations. It affirmed that should investigations reveal any individuals, whether government officials or outsiders, involved in this corruption case, they will face the full extent of civil, criminal, and administrative penalties under the law without exception.
