Secretary-General of NACC Says Allegations of Deputy Minister Involvement in Local Exam Corruption Are Unlikely

The Secretary-General of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) visited the Government House to meet with Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to address the local exam corruption issue, stating the situation is unlikely to be as severe as rumored, after being asked about reports linking a deputy minister to the scheme.


24 Jun 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Phumvisan Kasemsuk, Secretary-General of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), visited the Government House to meet the Prime Minister regarding the local exam corruption case. Before the meeting, he explained that he wanted to meet the Prime Minister first, as the division of responsibilities was not yet clear.

When asked who the current information connects to, Mr. Phumvisan said that the NACC office has received complaints at a certain level but declined to disclose details pending consultation with the Prime Minister. Regarding whether the matter would be classified as a special case, he said he did not know yet and emphasized that he wanted to get guidance from the Prime Minister first.

Reporters followed up with questions. When asked how many government officials are involved, Mr. Phumvisan acknowledged there are some. These individuals are currently undergoing fact-finding investigation. When pressed about rumors that a deputy minister is involved, the Secretary-General of NACC said it is unlikely to be the case. .
