Ruttaphon revealed that on 2 July, Phawut and associates will provide clarifications to the DSI on the Forex case. Those ready may come earlier. He noted the court will decide if the investment promotion clip is misleading. Broker information is seen as useful. He stated he was unaware of any MP resignation plans.
At 08:15 on 25 June 2026 GMT+7, Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruttaphon Naowarat, Minister of Justice, gave an interview at Government House regarding the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) taking on the Forex case as a special investigation. Asked whether it will take a long time to press charges, he said they are trying to expedite, but the financial transactions are quite numerous—around 60,000 to 70,000 transactions—requiring time to analyze, along with evidence. On 16 June, the DSI conducted raids at 24 locations, gathering substantial evidence including documents and computers. They have expanded the task force with more personnel to avoid delays. He has directed that progress reports be given to the public every 15 days.
When asked about summoning MP Phawut Pongwitthayaphanu, party-list MP of the People's Party, Ruttaphon said that after the case was designated special, several summonses have been issued, including one for Phawut, scheduled for 2 July 2026 GMT+7, with a note that those summoned may meet investigators earlier if ready.
Regarding the question of how the DSI views Phawut's claim that the clip was not an investment solicitation, Ruttaphon said this depends on evidence collection and is ultimately a matter for the court to decide whether the video is trading or an inducement or promotional advertisement.
Asked if the DSI and Bank of Thailand are working intensively, Ruttaphon confirmed close coordination and integration, highlighting the crucial role of the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO), to which the DSI has referred the case for joint investigation. When asked if AMLO has identified the money trail, he said not yet, as the transactions are numerous and require time and fairness for thorough examination.
Regarding rumors that Phawut may resign from his party-list MP position, and whether that would speed up the investigation since parliamentary immunity would no longer apply, Ruttaphon said he is unaware of any resignation plans but that the DSI, AMLO, and Bank of Thailand will proceed with the investigation according to normal procedures.
On the matter of brokers explaining to the DSI that their operations are legal, while the Bank of Thailand considers them illegal, the Justice Minister said he is aware that QRS Global has provided clarifications. He emphasized that all sides are being heard, and according to investigators, the information is useful, revealing many details previously unknown to the DSI and supplementing evidence about individuals involved. Those mentioned on social media linked to QRS have provided additional information.
At the end, Ruttaphon disclosed that this afternoon he will respond to a live parliamentary inquiry on this matter, providing detailed explanations.
