The Prime Minister presided over the 15-day merit-making ceremony (Panrasamavara) commemorating the death of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendirathepvaradej, the Princess Rajasarinisiri Patchara Mahavajraratchathida.

At 07:30 on 25 June 2026 at the Santi Maitri Building, Government House, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, announced that Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and his wife presided over the Panrasamavara (15-day) merit-making ceremony dedicated to Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha. The Cabinet, heads of government agencies under the Prime Minister’s Office, officials, and staff at Government House attended the ceremony. Somdet Phra Buddhacharya, a member of the Supreme Sangha Council, Supreme Patriarch of the Eastern Region, and abbot of Wat Traimit Wittayaram, served as the chief monk for the Buddhist rites.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister lit incense and candles to pay homage to the Triple Gem and lit the small golden offering in front of the portrait of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendirathepvaradej. Officials invited the precepts, and the monks gave the precepts. Officials then invited the chanting of protective verses, and monks with monastic titles chanted Buddhist scriptures.

Following this, the Prime Minister, his wife, and the Cabinet offered traditional Thai offerings and meal containers to the monks. The Prime Minister then presented ten sets of monk robes for the memorial ceremony. The monks listened attentively as the chief monk delivered a sermon and led 47 seconds of meditation dedication. The monks expressed their approval. The Prime Minister poured water for merit and received blessings, then paid respects to the Triple Gem at the altar table. The ceremony concluded with paying respect in front of the portrait of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendirathepvaradej and bidding farewell to the chief monk.

After the ceremony, the Prime Minister and his wife, along with attendees, participated in an alms-giving ceremony, where 20 monks received offerings in front of the Santi Maitri and Thai Khu Fah buildings.

The term “Panrasamavara” means the completion of 15 days. It derives from Pali, combining “panra” meaning fifteen and “vara” meaning day or period. It is commonly used in Buddhist and royal traditions to denote a merit-making ceremony held on a significant 15-day anniversary, dedicated as a merit offering and remembrance on important occasions.
