Sirivann Accepts Request to Investigate Forex Market and Financial Channels, Seeks Measures to Protect the Public

The Deputy Chairperson of the Parliamentary Finance and Treasury Committee received a petition requesting an investigation into the foreign exchange (Forex) trading market and related financial channels, urging the committee to develop guidelines and protective measures for the public.

At 10:30 a.m. on 25 June 2026, Ms. Sirivann Prasatsatsaru, First Deputy Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Treasury, Financial Institutions, and Financial Markets, along with the committee members, received a petition from Mr. Taankun Jitisara, Chairperson of the Santiprachatham Club, and victims requesting an investigation into the Forex trading market, illegal Forex brokers, and related financial channels.

Many people have been deceived into investing in Forex markets through multiple illegal brokers, resulting in numerous victims. The Department of Special Investigation has taken measures and launched operations to seize assets to investigate and expand the case to criminal networks or scammers using these channels for money laundering, causing significant damage to Thailand's financial system, treasury, financial institutions, and financial markets.

The Department of Special Investigation has received information to investigate and freeze assets of involved individuals, including politicians and celebrities, who have financial links and close relationships with the broker companies. They urge all involved parties to accelerate the investigation, especially regarding seized assets, to proceed clearly and fairly for victims, whose losses are estimated in the billions of baht and affect the national economy. The DSI has officially accepted this as a special case under the Computer Crime Act B.E. 2560 (2017) due to fraudulent online advertising encouraging the public to invest in Forex, causing widespread damage. Further investigations will expand to other offenses.

Therefore, the committee is requested to examine gaps in protecting Thai people harmed through foreign online investment and Forex trading platforms. In some cases, damage or victimization must occur before investigations begin. The goal is to assign a responsible government agency to provide preventive protection against foreign platforms accessible to Thai users, receiving money from the public or continuously marketing to Thai people.

Seeking answers to four key issues.

Victims believe the committee should help find answers to these important questions:

1. What measures does the government have to track and monitor payment routes linked to foreign investment platforms serving Thai citizens?

2. Why can Thai people continuously transfer money to foreign platforms, while disputes are met with responses that the matter is beyond domestic agencies' authority?

3. Which agency is directly responsible for verifying facts about these platforms, even if no legal judgment or conclusion of wrongdoing has been made?

4. Does the government have sufficient risk prevention measures for the public if foreign platforms under investigation, restricted, or blacklisted abroad still access accounts of Thai users? While foreign operations may have legal jurisdiction limits, many countries worldwide investigate, issue warnings, or restrict certain platforms to protect their consumers with transparent, fair fact-checking, accurate information, and proper protection, thus building trust in Thailand's consumer protection system.

Ms. Sirivann Prasatsatsaru said the committee chair is very concerned about this issue and prioritizes problems causing public distress. She will submit the matter for committee consideration and invite relevant parties to jointly find solutions to alleviate the people's hardships promptly.
