Bangkok Governor Election 2026: “Chadchart” Launches 24-Hour “Fire Trip” Campaign Across the City to Encourage Voter Turnout

Chadchart launches a final push with a 24-hour “Fire Trip” campaign touring all over Bangkok, inviting residents to witness the city’s life day and night and to exercise their voting rights on June 28.

On 25 June 2026, Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, candidate number 9 for Bangkok governor, spoke about the final stretch before the governor and Bangkok council election on 28 June 2026, from 8:00 to 17:00. He expressed concern that voter turnout might be lower than expected due to a rather quiet election atmosphere. He urged citizens to vote as much as possible, emphasizing that voting is an expression of democratic power and that the new governor’s legitimacy depends on public consensus, which is crucial for future governance.

Mr. Chadchart emphasized that the governor faces many issues requiring negotiation and cooperation with other agencies. Having the backing of the public will help the new governor carry out tasks more effectively.

“My main concern is low voter turnout. We need to raise awareness that June 28 is the election day for governor and council members. I encourage everyone to vote in large numbers because it seems rather quiet this time. I want to stimulate people to show their democratic power so the new governor gains public consent. Since the governor must work with other agencies, having the people's support will enable more efficient policy implementation,” he said.

For the final campaign activities, Mr. Chadchart revealed that his team will organize a “Fire Trip” – a 24-hour campaign covering all 50 districts, starting at 18:00 on Friday, 26 June 2026, and continuing until 18:00 on Saturday, 27 June 2026.

Mr. Chadchart casually described the event as a “Fire Trip,” a nickname for himself, acknowledging it may be somewhat challenging and that rest breaks might be needed if he gets tired. However, the main goal is not just to seek votes but to raise public awareness that the election is on 28 June 2026 and to encourage maximum voter participation. “I don’t necessarily expect votes for me, but want people to know the election is on Sunday, June 28, and to go out and vote in large numbers,” he said.

The event will start from the Chong Nonsi skywalk area, then move to various locations across Bangkok, alternating with returns to the studio to host live broadcasts on Facebook (Chadchart Sittipunt) and the Chadchart team’s YouTube channel. Activities include observing Bangkok’s nightlife, meeting night-shift workers, visiting agencies operating 24/7, and various other activities to engage viewers.

Mr. Chadchart said that nighttime is when some people may receive less election information, so the 24-hour outreach is an opportunity to communicate with this group and remind everyone to vote on June 28.

He also discussed policies to ensure 24-hour safety in Bangkok, highlighting the importance of lighting, CCTV cameras, street and sidewalk safety systems, and emergency units.

To date, Bangkok has installed 115,000 streetlights and plans to add 100,000 more LED lights. Currently, there are 64,500 CCTV cameras, with plans to increase to 100,000 and integrate an additional 200,000 cameras from the private sector into the Command Center network.

Mr. Chadchart also mentioned improving risky spots on roads and sidewalks and enhancing emergency units such as Motorlance—emergency motorcycle ambulances that can reach accident sites within 8 minutes—stressing that safety is vital both for residents and visitors.

In closing, Mr. Chadchart urged voters to go to the polls early on June 28, advising them to check their polling stations in advance as some locations may have changed, and to prepare for possible rain on election day. “Support whoever you love by voting for them, but please go vote early,” he said.
