Prime Minister Urges Leading Platform to Promote Thai OTOP Products Online and Overseas, Driving Digital Economy

Prime Minister Anutin urged a leading platform to promote Thai OTOP products in online and foreign markets after the CEO met to discuss advancing the digital economy and supporting SMEs to enhance Thai entrepreneurs' capabilities.


At 2:00 p.m. on 25 June 2026, in the Purple Room of the Thai Khu Fah Building at the Government House, Mr. Chris Feng, CEO of Sea Limited and Shopee, along with his delegation, paid a courtesy visit. Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul to discuss ways to drive the digital economy, enhance Thai entrepreneurs' capabilities, and expand investment cooperation in Thailand.

After the meeting, Ms. Rachada Thanadirek, the Prime Minister's Office spokesperson, stated that the Prime Minister welcomed Mr. Chris Feng and thanked Sea Limited and Shopee for their key role in developing Thailand's digital economy—promoting trade via digital platforms and developing e-commerce skills—aligning with the government's policy to increase trade channels, both online and offline, to generate income and enhance the competitiveness of Thai entrepreneurs, especially small businesses.

Mr. Chris Feng expressed condolences on the passing of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati, Princess Rajasarin Siribajra Mahavajrarajadhida, and affirmed readiness to cooperate with the Thai government in developing digital and e-commerce skills for Thai entrepreneurs, as well as promoting Thai products globally through the Shopee International Platform (SIP) and Shopee Global Sales. Additionally, Mr. Feng expressed interest in expanding investment and business cooperation in Thailand to jointly drive the digital economy and create long-term jobs.

The Prime Minister also said that SMEs and new-generation entrepreneurs are vital to Thailand's economy. Therefore, the government supports access to capital, reduces business obstacles, upgrades digital skills, and creates a fair trading environment, especially enforcing laws to protect Thai entrepreneurs from unfair competition on digital platforms.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister discussed developing a Virtual Banking system as an important mechanism to upgrade the country's digital financial system, expressing support for experts and experienced financial business players to invest in and develop digital banking in Thailand to enhance competitiveness and financial innovation. He emphasized that Virtual Banking will help the public, especially small entrepreneurs and those who lack access to financial services, to conveniently obtain loans and financial services through digital channels, increasing opportunities for livelihoods and business expansion, thus serving as a key driver for Thailand's inclusive digital economy and growth.

At the end, the Prime Minister invited Mr. Chris Feng to join OTOP Midyear 2026 and requested assistance in promoting Thai OTOP products, emphasizing their high quality and confidence that Thai products will be well received in foreign markets. Mr. Chris Feng gladly agreed and expressed full support, seeing market opportunities for Thai products as well.
