“Natt” visited Ranong Province to monitor the situation of aquatic animal imports from abroad, met with shrimp farmers, and gathered information to propose to management for support measures addressing production costs that farmers face.
On 25 Jun 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Natt Hongchuwech, Assistant Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, disclosed that he visited Ranong Province to follow up on the fisheries situation and the import process of aquatic animals from abroad. He inspected the aquatic animal import process at the Ranong Fisheries Checkpoint, finding that the value of aquatic animal imports from Myanmar remains high while smuggling has continuously decreased due to strict law enforcement. He also met with shrimp farmers to listen to their concerns about rising production costs and price fluctuations. The information gathered will be presented to ministry leadership to devise measures to address cost issues and develop sustainable market channels for the local fisheries sector.
In addition to reviewing the local fisheries situation, he chaired the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on developing food security and herbal plants in land reform areas between the Chaophraya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital Foundation under the patronage of Princess Bajrakitiyabha and the Agricultural Land Reform Office (ALRO). He also oversaw the signing of an MOU on improving herbal production quality and product marketing in land reform areas between Green Chat Natural Herbs (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and ALRO, aiming to promote knowledge, technology, and market access to create stable and sustainable income for farmers.
