"Kardee" reveals that the Democrat Party is set to strongly challenge the 'DE–Cloud budget,' mocking that even the 2027 budget files are still delayed.
On 25 June at the parliament, Kardee Liao-Piroj, party-list MP and deputy leader of the Democrat Party, spoke about preparing to debate the 2027 fiscal year budget bill. She said the party plans to scrutinize the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society's budget, which has increased by over 30%, including the 5 billion baht cloud project. She believes the cloud service should be centralized nationwide, but found that many ministries are running similar projects independently. Regarding AI, the 2027 budget allocates roughly 2.5 billion baht across about 206 projects, but she feels clearer details are needed. She also reviewed the broader integrated digital government plan valued at over 8.7 billion baht, noting that 72.6% is operational spending while only 9.4% is investment, a point she intends to emphasize in the parliamentary debate.
She mocked that even the 2027 budget files are still delayed.
Kardee added she lamented receiving the 2027 budget documents—two large boxes—only on 24 June, even though the fact that printed books were ready means digital files were likely completed at least three weeks earlier. She urged the government to release certified digital budget files earlier in the future, so the opposition can examine detailed budget information well in advance, especially since the debate begins next week and there are only a few days to review the details. If the government truly wants to go digital, this should start with such practical steps.
