Democrat Party Exposes IO Attacks on Leaders Over Corruption Talk in Bangkok Governor Campaign

Siripa exposed that IO forces launched an attack on former Prime Minister Chuan Leekpai's page after he spoke about corruption during the campaign supporting Anucha for Bangkok governor. Democrat leaders Abhisit and Sakoltee were also targeted. She urged to end such attacks, saying the era of false information assaults is over.

On 26 June 2026, Ms. Siripa Intawichet, Deputy Spokesperson of the Democrat Party, posted on Facebook regarding former Prime Minister Chuan Leekpai's field visit to support Mr. Anucha Buppha-chaisri, the Democrat candidate for Bangkok governor, number 5. On the 'Chuan Leekpai' Facebook page, photos of Chuan's campaign visits were posted emphasizing corruption problems and principles of honest politics, yet many comments with identical criticism appeared.

Ms. Siripa posted examples of comments, noting that Chuan's page is commendable for never blocking or deleting dissenting views and welcomes all opinions. However, she highlighted that when Chuan Leekpai campaigned for Anucha Buppha-chaisri, touching on honesty and integrity, IO forces attacked with rude comments, indicating strong concern from opponents about Chuan’s campaigning efforts.

She added that the IO team is very poor quality, so much so that even AI tools without paid subscriptions can identify their fake account farms easily by analyzing their activities. Negative comments mostly come from accounts exhibiting clear IO characteristics.

These include profile pictures that conceal faces, followed by repeated anime images altered slightly by changing angles or hairstyles, showing minimal effort.

They recycle posts word-for-word and image-for-image, sharing identical content repeatedly. It's unlikely that unrelated users coincidentally promote the same cosmetic brand simultaneously, sharing many duplicate posts at the same times.

Profiles are very sparse with no real identity presence.

Names do not match the content; accounts were created solely to repost among themselves and artificially boost engagement.

All these accounts share identical friend lists, repeating the same connections.

She advised to stop using IO tactics with false information to attack others, as the era of false data assaults has ended. Instead, start doing good deeds to earn genuine public support.

Democrat Party Faces Intense Digital Assault as Avatar Networks Flood Social Media with Attacks on Party and Leaders

Reports indicate that in the final stretch of the Bangkok governor election campaign, the Democrat Party faces extensive digital challenges. Coordinated IO account networks systematically attack official party websites, Facebook pages, and online spaces of key figures like Chuan Leekpai, Abhisit Vejjajiva, Sakoltee Phattiyakul, and candidate Anucha Buppha-chaisri, who are all targeted with unusually negative comments.

Analysis of comment behavior reveals signs of Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior (CIB), where linked accounts act simultaneously within short timeframes on social media to mislead public discourse. The strategic goal is to reduce the credibility of candidates and party policies. The most heavily attacked posts discuss "honest politics and choosing honest people" and invite participation in the party’s major rally on 26 June. After targeting one page, these groups move systematically to attack other leaders’ pages in succession.

The content of these comments often repurposes unrelated rhetoric or fabricated beliefs intended to mislead and influence public opinion. Most comments recycle old narratives used historically as tools to legitimize or seize power, copying each other as planned without original wording. They often start sentences similarly but slightly alter endings to evade spam detection. This era of false and distorted information attacks should end, promoting sincere politics so social media becomes a true information source for citizens.

Beyond social media, the Democrat Party's website experienced outages on 19 June due to massive traffic from overseas countries including the U.S., the U.K., Canada, and Jamaica, outnumbering Thai visitors suspiciously. This supports the hypothesis that VPNs were used to mask identities and overwhelm the party’s network in an attack.

While online expression is a democratic right, the current contest for Bangkok’s top position reveals digital era political challenges. It calls society to recognize “digital well-being” and support the internet as a civilized platform for idea exchange—a positive force driving the capital forward constructively. All sectors should focus on creating a “safe and transparent communication space,” competing on policy content and sincerity rather than employing technology to discredit opponents.
