Ratchada Leads Government Spokespersons in Merit-Making at Narisarameru Building Press Center, Urges Public to Receive Good and Accurate News

Ratchada led the government spokesperson team in a merit-making ceremony at the government press center in the Narisarameru Building to bring good fortune and boost morale for public communication workers, while urging the public to be happy and receive good, accurate news and information that is correct and beneficial to them. The event was intended to create auspiciousness and encourage those involved in government communication.

At 8:30 a.m. on 26 June 2026, at the government press center in the Narisarameru Building, Government House, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, presided over a merit-making ceremony to bring auspiciousness. Attending were deputy spokespersons Lalida Pherwiwattana, Ploytale Laksamee Saengchan, and Captain Patchdarasmi Thongsaluaykorn, along with Ms. Nicha Hirunburana Thuwatham, advisor to the Prime Minister on permanent officials, executives of the Secretariat of the Prime Minister, spokesperson office staff, and government house journalists.

At the start of the Buddhist rites, the spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office lit incense and candles to honor the Triple Gem. Five monks chanted prayers while the government spokesperson team offered a traditional Thai meal set and other offerings. The monks then sprinkled holy water to bless the event, marking the conclusion of the ceremony.

The purpose of this merit-making ceremony at the government press center was to bring good fortune and boost morale among those working in public communication of the government. It also aimed to strengthen good relations between spokesperson office staff and government house journalists, who play important roles in delivering useful information to the public.

On this occasion, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek said that government communication is not merely about conveying information but about building understanding and trust among the public. She expressed a wish that "the public will be happy, receive accurate and useful news, and that the spread of fake news will decrease."

After the ceremony, the government spokesperson team participated in a media relations event to meet, discuss, exchange views, and strengthen cooperation with government house reporters, with the shared goal of communicating accurate, timely, and beneficial information to the public.

The government press center in the Narisarameru Building at Government House was originally named “Phra Khan Building” and was part of the Norasingh House before becoming the current Government House. Later, it was repurposed as the government’s central press briefing center, starting during the administration of General Chatichai Choonhavan. It serves to disseminate information, Cabinet meeting results, policies, and government achievements to the media and the public.
