Surachit Pongsingwit announced plans to address flooding in Lat Krabang District by outlining seven projects and is seeking another term as a Bangkok Councilor to continue his work seamlessly.
On 26 June 2026, Surachit Pongsingwit, also known as Dr. John, candidate number 5 for Bangkok Councilor in Lat Krabang from the Better Bangkok team, said that after continuous visits and hearing from residents, the main issues in Lat Krabang were identified. The top problem is flooding at 28.95%, followed by the development of parks and sports facilities at 26.32%, then road and sidewalk issues at 21.05%. Problems related to waste, lighting, and traffic were each about 7.89%. Based on these issues, he formulated policies to resolve them for the benefit of Lat Krabang residents.
The urgent and ongoing issue to be addressed, continuing from his previous work, is flooding. He plans to push for sustainable flood management projects to improve the drainage system: 1. Installation of pumping stations (pumping water from Lam Sai Kai canal to Khlong Song) 2. Constructing roads with drainage pipes from Kriangkrai intersection to Srinakarin and Rom Klao roads 3. The pipe culvert project from Khlong Prawet Burirom is underway (360 days).
4. Construction of a monkey cheek system at Suan Phra Nakhon pond, a new project currently announcing the winner (budget for 2026) 5. Advocating for dredging drainage pipes throughout the district 6. Dredging main and secondary canals 7. Building a weir for agriculture and flood mitigation, currently in the procurement process (budget for 2026).
Dr. John added that they will improve roads alongside drainage pipes, replace old pipes, expand new pipes for better water flow, overhaul pumping systems, add pumping stations, dredge main and secondary canals district-wide, create community monkey cheeks, develop weirs and monkey cheeks to store and slow water, and restore canals to clear, clean water by preventing pollution and blockage.
"I have served as Lat Krabang's councilor for the past four years. Every step of my work in the area has been focused on solving problems and continuously developing Lat Krabang. I would like to ask for the support of Lat Krabang residents once again on Sunday, 28 June 2026, to vote using the pink ballot for number 5. These policies will be pushed forward to ensure continuous progress without interruption and immediate action, living up to the nickname residents gave me, ‘John solves all problems,’" Dr. John said.
