Government Reports 1,300 Copyright-Infringing Items Seized and 116 Cases Arrested in 5 Months

Ratchada revealed that in the first five months of 2026, authorities have removed 1,322 copyright-infringing items from online platforms, seized more than 220,000 pieces of evidence, and arrested suspects in 116 cases, affirming the government's commitment to advancing intellectual property protection to meet international standards.

On 26 June 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, stated that the government prioritizes intellectual property protection within the digital economy to foster a fair trade environment, safeguard consumers, and boost confidence among entrepreneurs and investors by continuously integrating cooperation among government agencies, the private sector, and online platform providers.

The spokesperson explained that the growth of e-commerce and increased consumer use of digital channels have made intellectual property infringements more complex and rapidly spreading. Therefore, the government is accelerating the use of technology to enhance detection, prevention, and strict law enforcement to protect rights holders and build consumer confidence.

Data from the Department of Intellectual Property show that during the first five months of 2026 (January–May), authorities successfully suspended and removed 1,322 listings of goods suspected of trademark and copyright infringement from online platforms. This effort extended to raids on storage sites and warehouses, resulting in 116 arrests and the seizure of 224,042 items valued at over 81.7 million baht in damages, demonstrating tangible results from integrated cooperation and technology use in combating intellectual property violations.

The Department of Intellectual Property has also partnered with Meta Thailand to conduct training on Brand Rights Protection tools for rights holders and the private sector, enhancing their capability to monitor, detect, and swiftly report infringing products on online platforms more effectively.

"The government aims to build a robust intellectual property ecosystem alongside promoting the digital economy and consumer protection by integrating cooperation across all sectors to cut off the supply of counterfeit goods at the source, while upgrading intellectual property protection systems to support the digital economy and foster long-term confidence, elevating protection standards to international levels," Ms. Ratchada said.
