Dr. Joe declared there is no superhero to solve Bangkok’s recurring problems and urged those who once believed in the Future Forward and Move Forward parties to vote for the People’s Party, aiming to restructure the capital and address issues at their source.
On 26 June 2026 at Benjakitti Park, Chaiwat Sathaworawijit, the People’s Party candidate for Bangkok governor, delivered a major speech at the “Fill Bangkok to Full 10” event. He said, “We have been electing governors for 50 years but keep facing the same problems repeatedly—flooding, traffic jams, garbage—that we have become accustomed to. We think it will always be this way. Drainage pipes have only been half cleared so far. If I become governor, I will clear 100% of the pipes, doubling the budget to 300 million baht. But that’s not enough because it doesn’t solve the problem completely. Cleaning pipes helps water flow, but I will solve the problem structurally, at its root. We must separate stormwater pipes from sewage pipes.”
Chaiwat continued, “Regarding corruption, the issues we face have been reported to Bangkok authorities, but investigations take a long time and penalties are minimal, only a few hundred baht. The lost tax money never returns. If I become governor, I will tackle these problems at their root. We will prevent bid rigging and collusion by implementing AI systems to monitor public procurement transparently. These problems arise from the start, so addressing them brings in funds to develop Bangkok and improve citizens’ quality of life. This requires political will. A governor must be serious, and that is why I am the right choice.”
Chaiwat said, “I will prove that transparent, accountable management leads to funds that improve quality of life. Those who follow politics and want to oversee can check how taxes are spent. We will ensure Bangkok residents do not regret paying taxes because they will see every baht is used to improve their lives, and they will be willing.”
“I will prove that those who believed in us from the Future Forward and Move Forward parties to the People’s Party still trust our approach to solving problems structurally and at their roots. I ask them to believe once again that we can accomplish this because we have the political will and determination. Therefore, please give us the opportunity to work.” .— (No text to translate; just a marker of a quote or speaker)
Chaiwat emphasized, “I understand some may wonder why I am running for Bangkok governor when I could remain a party-list MP comfortably. But this is my political will to address Thailand’s structural problems. This election is an opportunity for the People’s Party to begin solving these issues.”
“I am not an expert in everything, but I improve myself daily to be ready to take responsibility as Bangkok governor—to solve problems and develop the city together. I will prove there is no superhero or even the best team, no matter how large, who can fix these problems without the political will to do so. The problems will just keep recurring. That is our difference, and I will prove it.” Chaiwat said.
