Anucha Vows to Become Bangkok Governor, Promises Action Over Words and Anti-Corruption Drive

The Democrat Party mobilizes leaders to support “James Anucha,” who firmly vows to solve traffic jams, flooding, and foreign workers competing for jobs in Bangkok.

On 26 June 2026 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, the Democrat Party held a major final rally ahead of the Bangkok governor and Bangkok Metropolitan Council (BMC) elections, under the title “Mueang Fah Amorn Talk and Phase: Go All Out with James Anucha.” The event aimed to rally voters in the capital, featuring Anucha Burapachaisri, the candidate for Bangkok governor, along with candidates for all 50 BMC seats, on stage amid party leaders and enthusiastic supporters.

Anucha said in his speech that he does not seek the position to boost his personal profile but always thinks about how to make Bangkok better. After canvassing for one month, he encountered many problems: traffic jams, flooding, waste disposal, so-called closed waste plants that do not truly close, foreign vendors competing for stalls, livelihood issues, cost of living, housing for the elderly, and the future of Bangkok residents. He has extensive experience in private business, legislative roles, and administrative work, and is fully prepared to develop the city if given the chance by Bangkok residents. He admitted he is not a great communicator but is someone who "does more than talks."

Anucha emphasized that if entrusted as Bangkok governor, his first mission will be a serious crackdown on corruption to thoroughly sweep it away. He plans to reorganize buses and boats from alleys and small routes to connect smoothly with major transit systems. The Democrat Party is the first and only party to propose bringing the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) under Bangkok's oversight to solve transportation problems with maximum efficiency, and to promote an integrated ticketing system to concretely reduce travel costs for citizens.

“I am not alone but come with the party’s candidates for all 50 BMC seats, who have experience. I am fortunate to return to the blue home surrounded by people who do not seek to exploit or profit unfairly. I ask Bangkok residents to choose me and the Democrat Party BMC candidates to prove that Bangkok can be a city with convenient travel, cleanliness, livability, and a better economy. I also affirm that corruption will definitely not occur under the Democrat Party,” Anucha concluded.
